@Davina – Walks are great. My wife and I do them regularly. Sounds like you maybe grew up on a farm as a kid – I was around several too, plus we had a few animals. Hay forts were great fun – thanks for reminding me of something I haven’t done in a long time!

In the summer I take a lot of long walks. There's a park near my apartment and sometimes I stop to watch the baseball game. When we were kids we'd be happy building forts from bales of hay. Running through sprinklers is what I did as a kid to cool off when we didn’t go to the beach. Another no-cost idea for fun in the sun.

@Evelyn – Plays are fun! And all you need is just whatever you can find around your place. Sounds like a blast!

It seems a load of fun!! How nice that it doesn't need to cost a bomb! My kids and I have fun in various ways. An example: just putting up a short play with blankets, magic wands and all is enough to create a lot of joy and laughter. Evelyn Lims last blog post..Raise Awareness; Release Guilt

@Rachel – Hey, we geocache too! Actually we haven’t done it at all this summer. It is fun for the kids isn’t it. They like finding the “treasure”. I know for us, the kids always think the hikes are funner because they are out to find something.

@Dave – Riding a dog — that sounds fun! And so does the mud – it’s pretty fun every once in a while to just get all dirty.

@Writer Dad – That’s what it’s all about, having fun and making memories. Catalina Island sounds like a wonderful place to do that!

@Marelisa – That sounds like lots of fun, and memorable to boot!

@Mark – The trampoline and sprinklers sounds like a great way to cool off on a hot day (and get some exercise in without really knowing it!).

@Annette – Life can be too serious sometimes, can’t it?? Sounds like you’ve found some great ways to make it fun! My youngest loves water balloons too. Doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cool to him.

@Urban Panther – Right on, as long as we’re going to screw up anyway – let’s make it fun! Rock on (literally, at your house!).

@MizFit – Thanks much! The obstacle course is good fun for everyone – and that’s what makes it such a blast.

@Barbara – That’s right, we don’t want to become stodgy and boring – bring on the fun!

@Vered – I like to follow the “Keep it Simple” philosophy (probably because that’s all I can handle…).

We love to geocache! It is like a little treasure hunt. My daughter is still pretty little so she doesn’t understand it 100% but I know as she gets older she will love it even more.
