I have never read this quote before, but what a powerful message for me. Rationally I have been aware for awhile that all the little steps in life or in pursuit of my goals do make up my actual life. There is no end result with a sign saying "This is your life", well no until I get really famous anyway. But emotionally I still do look at what is between me and my desires as something to knock out of the way or accomplish, rather than another part of life to enjoy.

I think we can all live better if we keep this quote in mind. Thanks.

So true, and a most powerful quote. It all goes back to living in the moment AND enjoying, savoring, being aware of and loving the moment. Thank you for seeing this my dear friend. Just lovely.

@Jennifer- I linked my name to my business site. Take a look and let me know what you think. I am a teacher turned entrepreneur. I am a creative person who needed an out from the public schools and God came through by sharing this great idea with me and giving me the courage to make it happen. I am so blessed!

@Henie - We have days like that, don't we! Days where out motivation sags, or that we're not energized. And sometimes, that means just resting. And sometimes it means pumping ourselves up. So, here is to "doing" Henie - whatever that is - rest, some project, whatever.. Thanks for stopping back in!

@Glad - Sometimes a moment like that is a big "ah-ha" moment. And other times, it's more of a gradual thing over time. And in the end, it doesn't matter. What matters is that you have found that place - where the NOW is it. Where the moments we have are really what make up the life we are living...

@SpaceAgeSage -- Lori - I love the metaphor of comparing this to a river rushing past a boulder. How important to remember that we have limitations, that we can't do everything. And in some things it is best to "flow" past them instead of taking on something that is only going to beat us up. Recognizing what matters, that what I take from this example - what's important is worth hitting those boulders. Other things, it is better to just flow beyond them.

@Mark/MarkSalinas - Thanks for stoppin by!

@Laurie - Our life...yes, we do just have one. Whether we like it or not (and I say we might as well like it - it's our only shot we've got here...). I love the way you're embracing your business Laurie, and I know it's an exciting time for you right now. I really do see this as embracing life, and living it the way you desire to. And the whole idea fo doing those things that really excite us - like flying that ultralight - very cool Laurie - and very cool for saying it publicly here!

@Jennifer - The ultralight -- sign me up too! Living, really living - that's so important to really loving the life we have, isn't it Jennifer! Thanks for coming back and adding to the conversation...

@Cricket - Hi Tammy! And yes, obstacles really are what are the spices we add to our life! "I am" -- I like that! It speaks to what you truly are - at this moment. Have fun(?) in your boot camp experience!

@Miruspeg - Hi Peggy! That quote is a wonderful complement to this post! ...inspired by love and guided by knowledge... that is a life well-lived!

Another wonderful Sunday thought Lance and I love the photo, so vivid and rich.
I also am empowered by this quote below:

"The good life is inspired by love and guided by knowledge" - Bertrand Russell.

Hugs

Oh Lance. "I am" is the moment in which I am trying to live right now. I am letting go of "I want" and giving it a try. I use to tell myself this long ago. Just the other day I had a boot-camp experience that reminded me of this.

Obstacles are our life. How boring life would be if we didn't have them.

Laurie, living is for you. It's for me. It's for everyone. So glad that you figured that out. That's so awesome that you are working on your list. My husband would love to participate in your next event. I'm curious... What kind of business do you have?

I remember my grandmother telling my sister who was surprisingly pregnant, "there is no good time to have a baby. You just have one." I think the same thing is true about life. There are always that get in the way to doing what we really want to do. I have always wanted to start my own business and now I have done it. I love it! I am creating a list of all the things I want to do and am working to check them all off. Some of these things I always thought, "Oh that is what other people do, and not regular folk like me." Then I decided that was crap. Why can't I do these things? One of the things I want to do is learn to fly an ultra light plane. That is the thing I am saving for next. I think it was totally rock!

These obstacles tend to task me, too. I have to remind myself that the doing and completion of things can be meaningful, but like a river rushing past a boulder, sometimes I just have to flow around and beyond limitations instead of beat my head against them.

Great quote. I felt the same way for a very long time. I don't know when I realized that we only have this moment -- the one right NOW. And we live our lives moment to moment.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and writing such kind words.
