And that’s because as we find that true sunset, that true light within us – we are more connected with our unique calling and gifts…and that is very much something to be joyful about!

What you wrote reminded me of when I first moved to Alaska and saw a sunset that make the mountains look purple, just like the song.

We have some of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen right here in our neighborhood. Our back yard opens up to a field and we can see a long distance to the horizon where the sun sheds is beautiful colors all across the sky. Whenever I notice the sunset out the window or when my husband mentions it I always pause no matter how busy I am to gaze at its beauty. We usually hold each other as we gaze. I think it would be such a waste to not pause for it so I make it a rule to always do so.

Your post makes me think about how rare it is that we do this with ourselves – that we look within to notice our own beauty and what we have to share with the world. We get so busy or caught up in the motions (or we let any of the other excuses take over that you mentioned) that we don’t even realize that we have beauty to offer. So it remains hidden behind the clouds, unnoticed by us and those around us. My take away is this: to always take time to pause and reflect on the beauty that lies within and how I can let it shine for God’s glory. After all He put it there for a reason.

When we quit fighting with ourselves, accept where we’re at – and move on – this is a much more peaceful way of life. And this really ties so well to the part of the book you shared. And that message is so strong for me – the “things” we have are not going to change us fundamentally. Only we can decide, deep down, how we weill embrace life. Thanks for sharing this Jared.

Sometimes we’ll have a few more “clouds” in our life, and that can make it hard for the sun, for that light within each of us, to fully shine. And you know what…that someday can be today. Even if it’s baby steps, even if it’s just a few minutes to yourself to really listen to “you” – someday can be today. And you may think your “sunset” is overcast…but I know the sun is at least peeking through – because having you here has brightened my day – and that’s because of the light you shine…

I’m back in the online world! And it shouldn’t come as a surprise to me, but your post pertains exactly to the soul searching that I’ve been doing the past couple of months. My sunset is very overcast right now, and you’re right . . . it’s because I’m not being true to the “me” inside. I’m letting my dreams go away until “someday” but I’ve been so depressed because now I don’t know when that someday will come.
