4 Ways to Prepare for a New Baby

by Guest Author on · 1 comment

When you have a new baby on the way, you may find yourself killing time anxiously awaiting your new arrival. If that’s the case, here are a few tips you can use to fill your time and make the first few weeks and months after you bring your new bundle home a bit easier on everyone!

Set up help ahead of time. Whether or not you have family and friends close by, it will be helpful to have one or two people you can rely on in a pinch, whether it’s to run a quick errand for you or to come babysit for a short time while you catch up on sleep. Feeling out some friends or sitters ahead of time will save you from worrying after your baby is here. Most people will be more than happy to help!

Freeze some meals. If you’re lucky enough to have good friends and neighbors, chances are that you’ll have a lot of food dropped off in the first few weeks but if you have time, it can’t hurt to do some prep work yourself too. Make some casseroles or chili — both are easy to throw in the freezer so that you’re not scrambling to put dinner on the table last minute. This approach will save you time and money.

Do a big grocery shop. Since it will be harder to run even simple errands once a new baby is in the house, make sure you use the time you have now to stock up on some essentials (canned goods, diapers, coffee, medicine, etc.) so you have most of what you need an arm’s length away. This will minimize the number of last minute errands to the grocery store or pharmacy.

What other tips do you have?
