I find joy interesting. As I understand it, you are still can feel joyous in the midst of difficult times. I’m not sure I have experienced that but maybe you have Lance. We seem to connect joy and happiness but they are different. How would you differentiate the two?

Hmmm…I guess if I had to differentiate joy and happiness — I would say that joy might be more if a quality from within, while happiness might be more the expression of the from within. If this is the case, then we can find joy in difficult times (as maybe we are satisfied with how we handled a difficult situation — there could be joy there) while there may not be happiness — the expression of that — since it might be hard to be happy about the difficultness of the situation. While this is just my take on this, there are some grey lines in all of it too.

Lance, I said it over on my other blog but I wanted to say it here too-I think it says something about your presence that so many amazing people in this community already know your wonderful, positive blog. The comments on my blog towards your interview are so wonderfullly sweet and encouraging.
Laurie-I absolutely agree with you. One thing about my joy rebellion is I try to make it clear that connecting with joy isn’t about espousing happy clappy crap if you aren’t feeling it or sugar coating things. I believe our pivot point-our true nature is joy. Happiness is an emotion, a valid emotion but one that is within a wide array of emotions (anger, bewilderment, disappointment, contentment, etc). Joy is deeper than an emotion, which is transient. That’s all my opinion anyway–
