Small Steps Toward Big Success

“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” ~ Lao Tzu

Are you fulfilled?  Are you really and truly in a place that brings much meaning to this one life of yours?

See, the thing is – it's easy to "lie" to ourselves and those around us – and say that everything is good, when true reality is something different.

Or sometimes – maybe we carry this thought with us – that "when" x or y or z happens – then, baby, I'll be ready to do my thing.

Except there's always another x, y, or z that gets in the way.

That – or we let our dreams and desires just fade – accepting that they will never happen.

Have you ever done any of these?

Why is it that we do this? (it's a common thing…)

Ridicule.  Fear of failure.  Fear of success.  Unknowns.  Getting out of our comfort zones.  Etc. Etc.

We let our mind get in the way of our heart.

What if.

What if – we just, for even a moment, let our heart lead the way?  Who knows what might happen?

And all it takes is a small step to get us moving forward.

Here's the deal, though:  what steps we deliberately choose to take can make the difference between steps toward deep and meaningful success vs. just steps.

You get to choose.

Hi Lance:

Nice post…you describe something a lot of us are going through…questioning ourselves…questioning everything. I recently sat down for coffee with a very successful former salesman. We hit on some of the points you raised here. He emphatically recommended Napoleon Hill’s “Think And Grow Rich” to me. I’ve been reading and it is amazing how a book from the 1930’s can have relevance today.

I hope you’re having a good weekend and that you have a good 4th of July!

Hi Tim,
The book “Think and Grow Rich” is one of my favorites – and one I also have pulled off the shelf here at home many times – to either re-read the whole thing or just refresh on a particular chapter. It’s an excellent book!! Napoleon Hill really created a classic.

And yes – it is in what we question – and how well we “listen” to the answers that come…

Hope all is well with you – and you, too, enjoy the 4th!!!

I’ve ALWAYS chosen to GO FOR IT…sometimes I land flat on my face, step in my own sh*t, but at least I’m doing it “My Way” and I must say, I feel blessed in so many arenas! TY God!

That’s it – “going for it” is the way to do it!!

Rock on, my friend!

Inspirational. Many people really have a difficult time being honest with themselves about what they want in life … but I think more often than we’re willing to admit we know in our hearts what we want, but we turn a blind eye to it as a result of lack of confidence or because it looks like too much effort to make it happen.

I really think you’re onto something. It is within us – it’s just really and truly “listening” to that voice from within…

Money is a tough one. On the one hand, it would be nice if that didn’t hold us back from our dreams and desires. And on the other, it’s a necessary part of living in our society…

Wishing you well and your journey continues…

‘Choice’ is King, Lance. Choosing ‘the heart’ is something that I have been leaning more & more toward in recent times. Can’t wait for all the stars to align, need to get moving. Tune into your heart, follow it…regardless
be good to yourself

The “heart” is a pretty powerful part of our being…and when we really listen to it…there’s some great stuff there.

Here’s to aligning that continues for all of us…

Hi Lance, I actually read this and enjoyed it last week, just didn’t have the chance to comment. I really appreciate this post because it speaks truth into the heart choices we all have. It’s easy to claim that life is just happening to us, but in everything, every little thing, we get to choose how we will view it and therefore change it. Thanks for another great thought from the treehouse!

That’s exactly it!! Even when it feels like we don’t have a choice – we always have our attitude (and that can make such a difference!).

It’s great having you here, dear friend…
