Hi Lance,
A great quote to start your Sunday. If we can keep our hearts free from hate, they will be lighter and healthier by loosing some weight. And if we can keep our minds away from worry, they will function smoother by the extra energy it gives us. If we can fill our life with love and scatter the sunshine of love, it will repel dark from the hearts and from this world. If we can forget about self and think about others, we will be living in a surprise for sure.
So lets spread the love in the ways we can, no matter how little they are. Thanks Lance for the energetic quote !

Davina April 25, 2010 at 2:14 am

Hi Lance. Love the statement, “scatter sunshine” in this quote. I wonder what it would be like to go through your day practicing these perspectives, but also believing that others around us are also practicing them at the same time.

Richard | April 25, 2010 at 2:32 am

Wow. That’s like self improvement put into a nutshell. Great little quote.

Mindful Mimi April 25, 2010 at 3:00 am

All that is so very true. Your quotes are always pointing in the same or a similar direction. A good and happy life lived with and for others. Yesterday we were sitting outside with the bbq going, the sun was shining, simple pleasures like potato salad, a glass of red wine, little boys munching away, peace and quiet. Just bliss and scattered happiness.
Have a great week.

Happy Sunday Lance,

I have a magnet on the frig with a saying very similar to the quote you posted. It’s a good reminder of how easily it is to live happily. 🙂

It seems so simple, doesn’t it?
How incredible would it be if everyone lived as such… as if to create a memory one could cherish for a lifetime with every passing moment. Do as stated and these memories will be created.
Great, thank you,

I love all you share
Especially on Sundays

Debbie April 25, 2010 at 6:07 am

Inspirational quote and idea. Anything done repeatedly, with consistency will change our brain and, subsequently, our lives. Doing something like this will actually make a huge difference in someone’s life in the every day minutia and big picture stuff. We all have the power to make our own lives happier regardless of the circumstances. It all starts with a decision to do so in our own minds! Thanks for the reminder.

Lance April 25, 2010 at 6:12 am

@Vikum – Spreading love…a pretty wonderful thought!! Thanks Vikum.

@Davina – Hi Davina. Ahh…that is such a wonderful thought. I believe that the more we did this – really did it ourselves and believed others were too – that it would start to spread. And that would be pretty awesome!

@Richard – It’s good stuff, isn’t it! And all wrapped into just a couple of sentences. Yes, if we could all do just that – what amazing changes we could create in our world!

@Mimi – Hi Miranda. The bbq sounds wonderful! (I want to come over to YOUR house!) And that IS what it’s about – living simply…and seeing the treasures that are all around us! You too, sweet friend, have a beautiful week…

@Barbara – Happy Sunday Barbara! It is a wonderful quote, and I am not surprised you have this on your refrigerator. This is very much how I see you living your life, and it is beautiful.

@MizFit – Shine on, Miz!! You are awesome!!

@Darren – Hey Darren. It really does seem so simple…and even if we, as a society, could take baby steps in this direction – that would be so, so amazing. Thanks much, my friend!

@Jeanne – Thank you for being here Jeanne…

@Debbie – Hi Debbie. This reminds me of a quote: “What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.” ~ Napolean Hill. Our minds are a powerful force in our being. And doing any of this, yes – it so much affects others in such positive ways, too. And from there, it can just spread!

I love that quote, Lance, almost as much as the picture. WOW! That thing has ENERGY!

I’m sharing this around today; it feels really good to do so.

Thank you, and Happy Sunday!

Farnoosh ~ Prolific Living April 25, 2010 at 8:19 am

So so so true, all of it….I only wish had known all this when I was younger but I am determined not to forget it. Lance, thank you! Happy Sunday!

Evita April 25, 2010 at 8:46 am

Hi Lance

Yes, I have to second what Megan said – between the quote and the picture the energy of this post is incredible!

What happiness is possible, if we just let go and flow rather than push every step of the way….

Patricia - Spiritual Journey Of A Lightworker April 25, 2010 at 8:49 am

Lance, as usually you share a great picture and quote. Love the way the sunshine lights up the tree. The only thing I disagree with in the quote is “forget self.” If it had said “forget ego” I would have agreed. Not knowing or not loving yourself is at the bottom of all addictions (my opinion). As an incest survivor, I never learned to love myself as a child. I thought that everything that happened to me happened because I was unlovable. Even the Bible tells me to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” The “as yourself” has to come first or you can’t really “Love your neighbor.” If you “forget self”, you are soon running on empty because you don’t take care of yourself. An empty vessel can’t help another vessel. Filling your own vessel first is the same as putting on your own air mask (on an airplane), before you help someone else put on with theirs. It is being selfish; it is being smart. Hope you are having a glorious, sun filled day.

Joy April 25, 2010 at 9:07 am

What a beautiful thought to begin this Sunday morning–thank you for sharing.
I agree with Megan and Evita–so powerful. Life changing, yet easy–just be; lead with your heart, love life, enjoy all around you, revel in the beauty, “just be”. Let the rest go. How easy is that??? Love it:)

Jannie Funster April 25, 2010 at 9:49 am

That photo would actually be enough for me today — but the quote too!! A double dose of goodness.

Scatter sunshine, I feel a lot of that going on these days. There seems to be sweeping rage of it, from what I can see. Personally, when I have little down moments I try to do a little something for somebody else.

And Lance — I neglected to respond to one bit of your comment on my site the other day… Did you really trip and / or slip on your wedding day? I hope not, you poor thing.

happy day!!

suzen April 25, 2010 at 9:52 am

Hi Lance! Wonderful quote! I especially love the “scatter sunshine” – I think we are both members of that club!

@Marisa – Hi Marisa! Thanks so much for being here!! Have a wonderful week!

@Lynn – Hi Lynn! The light in that photo captured the essence of what this quote meant to me. And – yes, just think about how life could be, especially if we all lived the words of this quote.

@Megan – Hi Megan. Happy Sunday, sweet friend! There is so much energy in the photo…for me, it’s the light streaming through that adds such a dimension to it. Keep scattering your beautiful sunshine…

@Farnoosh – Hi Farnoosh!! I know…with our life experiences, especially if we take them to heart, there is so much we can learn and grow. And…Farnoosh, everything I have witnessed from you shines all of this… And that is a happy day, indeed!

@Evita – Hi Evita! The light from that image is so incredible!! And that IS an energy….just like the thoughts shared in the quote – and how they both can take us to a very good place. Flowing…ever-flowing…with what is in our hearts…

@Patricia – Spiritual Journey of a Lightworker — Patricia, you bring up a very good point. It really isn’t about forgetting self. When we do this, and have a lack of our own self-care – we, individually suffer. And then, we are less equipped to do all the rest shared in this wonderful quote. Forget EGO…I love that thought! When we can get beyond our own ego – and still care for ourselves with love – we are equipped to go out into the world and love others. Thank you so much for sharing this thought…

@Joy – Hi Joy! “Lead from your heart” – something I am feeling more and more every day. And then, in having those moments of just “be”ing…that really can ground us, and keep us centered on what truly matters in life. And it does NOT have to be difficult. Awesome!!

@Jannie – Hey Jannie! Having YOU here is a double dose of goodness for ME!! And what a wonderful thing to do – when we, ourselves, are feeling a bit down – just by doing some “good”, we can change our own dynamic…how sweet is that!

Oh…and the wedding day trips and slips: No, it did not really happen (are you wondering how truthful I am now???). Altough, funny (and true) story. Jakob, our oldest – in church – coming down the aisle in front of everyone (maybe five years ago) – and he tripped and fell. He was a good sport about it!!!

@Suzen – Hi Suzen!! Oh, YOU are most definitely a scatterer of sunshine!! I think you must glow from all the light you give off!!! Happy Sunday!! (…Sunshine Club Member!!!)

@Caity – Hi Caity!! Life is filled with so many, many positives….like YOU being HERE!!! Happy Sunday!

Wilma Ham April 25, 2010 at 6:15 pm

Hi All. The beauty is that we can all do this everywhere and anytime. It doesn’t require anything else than just our intention. And the difference it will make, and as we are connected we are still doing it for ourselves as well anyway. What a win/win. All the wisdom on how to live is all there isn’t it. And that is great, and it is right here on this blog so go Lance go, share it and good luck with the marathon or should I say good luck to Lori. xox Wilma

Suzie Cheel April 25, 2010 at 7:44 pm

Lance April 25, 2010 at 10:14 pm

@Jody – Hi Jody!! They sure are great words to follow (…and I’ll work at getting better at doing exactly that!). Thanks much!

@Hilda – Hey Hilda!! And I really believe that even if we each applied this wisdom only a bit…each of us…that too could make such a beautiful impact in our world! Great to see you today!!

@Zeenat – Hi Zeenat!! I love what you are suggesting…that the change we will feel from being more self-less will be something that is upon us pretty quickly. And how very wonderful is that!! I love it!! Much love to you, dear friend. And – that picture stopped me too – so filled with light, love, and energy!

@Wilma – Hi Wilma!! Yes, our intention…how powerful it is. Wilma – that one thought is so powerful. It’s not something that costs a lot so money, or takes a lot of time. It’s just us, living more from a place of love and compassion. And that really is a win/win! And…*ahem*….yes, LORI is the one who needs the LUCK…she is stuck working with ME!! Hahaha!!

@Suzie – Hi Suzie!! I know! That sun shining in from behind the tree is so awe-inspiring! You know what I think of when I think happiness? I think of your gravatar!! Your smile is infectious!!!

@Jacqeuline – Hey Jacqueline!! It is GREAT to meet you, too! If this site can somehow spread a bit of sunshine out into the world….I believe it is serving it’s purpose. And I know very much that many of the visitors here have shined a whole lot of sunshine into my life!

@Alex – Hey Alex!! Great to meet you! These words really touch upon what happiness is truly about – and that’s pretty awesome!!

Diane AZ April 25, 2010 at 10:15 pm

Beautiful, simple and inspiring picture and quote. Hate is based on the past and worry focuses on the future. Happiness is our natural state, here and now. Forgetting the self that feels separate from the world (ego), we feel connected to others, and it is then effortless to “do as you would be done by.

I know I sometimes I get too caught up in wanting to make things difficult. When I simplify things it makes it so much easier to apply and turn into a habit.

Lance April 26, 2010 at 12:34 pm

@Diane AZ – Hi Diane!! So, the focus on NOW…great point!! When we are spending too much time in our past or future – we are taking away from that happiness that is there, within us. Great thought!!

@Caroline – Hey Caroline. Keep smiling, sweet friend…

@scheng1 – Ah…the nonsense of life…and just kind of “rolling with it”….good stuff!!

@J.D. Meier – You Mom is very wise…I’m not surprised though….the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!

@B@LogosCoaching – Yes, just even a week of consciously doing all of this would make such a difference – wow!!!

@Julie – Hi Julie!! …and in the giving….receiving. It’s like that is a natural law, it seems. And that truly is love in action…something you demonstrate so beautifully Julie!!

@Karl – Hey Karl!! Simplify! I too can get caught up in “too much” or “overload” mode – and when I stop and just simplify – wow!!! What a difference!

Kirsty April 26, 2010 at 4:37 pm

Totally enjoyed this quote, thank Lance. And I totally agree with “forget self, think of others” as too often we get caught up with the idea that it is all about “me”.

In fact I saw this on a poster at my local shopping centre – “It’s all about you” and thought – NO, it isn’t. Whilst I don’t believe there is anything wrong with looking after oneself, there is a difference to thinking/believing that it is all about oneself as an individual.

Sometimes it takes a long time to realise that for a satisfying life, one where we can enjoy and appreciate what we have, it really isn’t about what we do for ourselves but for others.

Have a fabulous week!

Jodi at Joy Discovered April 26, 2010 at 5:44 pm

Hi Lance! Great photo and poem. I love the line, “Scatter Sunshine” — how awesome is that!
I hope you are well! Jodi

Lance April 26, 2010 at 7:58 pm

@Shannon – Hey Shannon! Very cool – you having this hanging in your kitchen. And fitting too, I think – as everything I’ve seen from you shines of this!

@Yum Yucky – Hey Josie!! Right on! We might as well spend our energy on the good instead of the bad! And I can so relate to what you are saying – I do much better in the good moments of life.

@Kirtsy – Hi Kirsty!! If we just focused on the others around us a bit more…and if everyone did that – just think of how beautiful that would be! And you make a really excellent point – it most certainly isn’t all about us (especially in terms of what that sign is alluding to). It’s still important to take care of ourselves – but there’s still this whole idea of helping others around us too, which is so important. You too, have a wonderful week!

@Jodi – Hi Jodi!! It’s great to see you! Keep scattering that sunshine that I know you do so well already!!

@Hilary – Hi Hilary. Life is indeed interesting. And I think – the more we focus on so much of what is in this quote, the more meaningful and interesting this life of ours becomes. And that’s because we working more from our core…and from a very meaningful place in us. Marathon training: I’ve taken a few days off to heal a nagging foot injury.
