What a beautiful quote, Lance. And I think it’s true — at the core of everything we’re striving for is a desire for pure love.
The idea of unconditional love definitely makes me recall special moments with my mom — the way she’s supported my dreams, believed in me, and traded slushie flavors with me when we discvoered she picked the better flavor (and then claimed to like my flavor better so I could keep the good one).

Elisabeth is one of my favorites, Lance, and to think I was too shy to meet her when I had the chance. What a waste on my part. And that brings me to my first thought about her quote: that we allow our own fears (even the ones we aren’t consciously aware of) prevent us from feeling the love within—and we must feel it in order to give it. My second thought is that we are remiss every time we aren’t extending our love to everything in life, because it’s not just people that create our world; it’s the animals and circumstances and Nature and Earth and ideas… EveryTHING contributes to life just as everyONE does, so it’s silly to withhold our love from one part while showering another part with all we can muster. It’s this practice, I believe, that causes us to feel unbalanced, off kilter, out of step, or as if we’re missing something. Love the quote, love the pic, and I also love Julie’s comment — I think she hit the nail on the head. Fear is what keeps us from true, unconditional love. And I believe that any love that isn’t unconditional isn’t love at all. Fear makes us attach conditions to love, and fear is its opposite. But fear is so prevalent, it takes alot of awareness to stay focussed on love. But a visit to your blog always helps!!

What a way to end my perfect mother’s day, with this cool picture and quote. Yes, I always believe that all we ever want is to be deeply and intimately known with unconditional love. Yet we spend a lot of time fighting the people that do want to know the true us (and love us anyway!) instead of embracing the best of what they offer. Dearest Lance, I am running so behind here. Just getting around to some commenting and wanted to stop in and see you. This quote brings me great peace. It washed over me as core essential truth. It’s WHO we are at our core. It’s what, I believe, we are made of. It is what I see in everyone I meet. I see only love.
I don’t always have words of concepts to put on my blog, in fact I rarely do, but I can love. That is the easiest thing in the world. In truth it is really the only thing that come totally easily to me. If I have to “think” about things I am drained, but if I can just love people, reach out to them even if they rebuff me that is okay. I reach out freely with no strings or need for “return”. I love simply because I can’t possibly contain all the love I am given from this great universe (God, Spirit, the Creator, whatever we want to call IT). The love is so abundant that it MUST be shared.
This line is one I REALLY relate to: ” It (love) is our connection to God and to each other.” When I came out of the rainforest, Lance, I had lived so wild and changed SO much that people hardly understood me. And so one day I realized that it didn’t matter that they understand me or even “see” me, because that wasn’t REALLY what connected us. What connected us was LOVE. So I just started loving people and in doing so ALL isolation ended. Love was the bond that connected me to others, not my experiences. Love is the bond that connects us all. There are no words needed. We need not even have the same background, life experiences, beliefs, religion, schooling, skin color, country. We need only love and we are instantly connected.
You are one who has so seen this in me and encouraged it me. You are also one who LIVES their love. In doing so you have made a great difference in my life.
