@Annette - It is beautiful - and so true. Sometime it's so easy to get hung up on one door of life, that we don't even know other ones are there, let alone that we can open them up. I think we've all been there...

@Ariel - Thanks for stopping by! I agree the image and picture work nicely together.

I missed this quote earlier. It is so beautiful. I can think of so many times in my life where this has been true. It is so easy to drown ourself in tears when life throws us into a place we don't want to be and then one day it's like, oh yeah, this is why it happened....so I could get here to this moment now. It's all about seeing things in a different light. Keep on sharing these amazing quotes ;)

Lance

I haven't come across this quote before by Helen Keller. It's great and actually just what I need to keep in mind right now.

Thanks.

Robin, that's a great point. We "think" the other door is not good, when in reality there is likely all sorts of good behind it. And what we want does change, and then we need to pick another door, although that's not always easy to do.

Hi Lance - I think it's so interesting the way things can turn out differently from what you expected. Things we thought we wanted weren't necessarily the best thing - the trick is to move quickly to the open door, I guess.

@Dave - Well, that's a good point. Sometimes what is behind a door can change. And that can be a good thing for us. Along with that, I think it's also good for us to look for the other doors that may be already there.

@Michelle - What a wonderful way to look at this. And what a great example of this quote in action. I'm sorry to hear about your Grandmother. Losing a loved one is never easy. In celebrating life through your niece's birthday, this is such a beautiful way to look the new happiness around another door. Thanks for sharing this with us.

@MizFit - Agreed, and what an example we've seen here.

@Karl - Good point. Sometimes it's fear that keeps us from opening the other doors out there.

@Linda - Thank you. And another wonderful example of this. Thanks for sharing your story. It's in stories like this and from Michelle that the quote comes alive and really speaks to us.

@Shamelle - Yes, the key is to remember this when things are going the way we want. There is another door there, we just have to open it.

@Barbara - It's easy to get stuck at the door that has just closed, when all we need to do is move on. I think we've all done this at one point or another. Why is it so hard to move on sometimes? Maybe fear. Maybe not wanting to let go of what was behind the first door.

Hi Lance,

Great quote. It reminds me of how we often over analyze a situation (that needs to be put to rest), and turn our sights on what lies ahead of us.

I love the colors in this photograph, as well as the quote, Lance.

@ Michelle -- You sound wise. Last summer I had to attend a wedding the day after the funeral of two very close friends of mine who died tragically way too young in a car accident. While I went with a very heavy heart and red eyes, I felt it was so important to affirm life by celebrating as best I could, and even more so under those circumstances. It wasn't easy, but I wasn't sorry to be a witness to the love and new life beginning for this couple. It is indeed a never-ending circle!

Without bringing too much sadness to this beautiful Sunday I would like to say your quote for today is perfect. My granmother passed away earlier today after a long struggle with old age. Later I am going to my neice's first birthday party. At first it seems uncomfortable to me to go to a party but then I realized that the Circle of Life is an existence of Nature and Spirt, especially in this case. So I will be going and I will be celebrating not only my neice's birthday but also my grandmother's long life.

I suppose it depends on whether you think the door has been locked? I know I've stared at closed doors long enough for them to be re-opened, only to find that what was once behind that door has changed.

It's a good thought Lance. I'll keep pondering it throughout the day.

Cheers
