Having just watched Michael Phelps earn his 8th gold medal, I couldn’t help but wonder if he’s heard this one. He certainly made his dreams come true this week!

Hi Lance — That was powerful. And it’s a great reminder that we shouldn’t put limits on ourselves.
I wish people would only realize that we are responsible for our limits. Yes, there are plenty of external limitations but it doesn’t mean that there’s no way around these limitations. Just piggy backing on Linda Abbit’s comment, I’m sure that Michael Phelps have had his share of limitations, but these things did not stop him from achieving his goal of being the best Olympian ever.

This is a great reminder to always reach a little bit further. I read somewhere that we overestimate what we can do in the short-run and we underestimate what we can do in the long-run. By stretching just a little each day we can get really far in the course of our lives.

@Chris — Great viewpoint on this. We all have limitations (external) that that can affect us. Or we can decide to find ways around these limitations. That’s really where our internal limitations can affect us — in trying to deal with our external limitations.
