    Lance,

I LOVE this! Golden retrievers never fail to make me smile, and this must be the best 4-word quote I’ve ever read. I will aspire to bark less, wag more!

  4. I love this! I read: life is short quit yapping and have fun!!! :) We could all use that reminder. I think that those are some of the best days I have, when I don’t sweat the small stuff, and I just enjoy all that life has to offer. I also read: quit talking, listen and be supportive. Dogs have this great way about them. They just wag, wag, wag their tail in total support of their human.

Thanks for this post Lance! Great way to start the day. I’m off to wag!!!

    Have a great Sunday!

This is so true. I’m not sure why, but we tend to look at the negatives first. Life would be so much better if we looked for the positives, and then the negatives.

I’m difinitely going to pat some backs today.

    Thanks for the reminder, Lance.

  6. We went for a hike yesterday and a big beautiful golden retriever passed by us looking as happy as he could be — not a care in the world. I actually just drafted my next post on “enjoy the silence”. We fill the space unnecessarily sometimes…when wagging is what is really in order!

  7. Diane C. says:

How precious! Having my dog around reminds me to stay present and always look for reasons to wag! I’ve been writing a multi-part blog on stress. I could have just put the picture of the dog with the “bark less, wag more” and kept it simple! haha! I may follow his lead today and nap more as well! Thank you, Lance, for saying volumes in brief words and a heart-warming visual.

LOL, love this one Lance! It is amazing how different life becomes when we allow ourselves to be happy instead of holding onto angers, fears and frustrations.

It is a choice we can all make, and a choice that we all have, no matter what the circumstances.

  12. Julie says:

Dogs are wonderful teachers, aren’t they, Lance? Showing us that life really is very simple. Clean and simple, effortless and fun. …enjoyment around every corner, just waiting for us to notice it! Life “out there” is an absolute joy! We’re the ones who muck it up with judgements and fears and other things that separate us from each other, from the world, from goodness and light and all other things just as mighty and beautiful. Fun and happiness!—that’s as it should be. ;) We’re on the same wavelength today, Lance!

  27. Thanks for this post. The enthusiasm dogs live with is such a great example of how it’s possible to celebrate every moment of your life.

  28. I have not seen that bumper sticker yet, it’s great! (Kelly interprets it as shake your booty more.)

I saw one the other day saying… “Lord let me be half the man my dog thinks I am.” Amen!

  29. Lance says:

@Daphne — Hi Daphne. That was my thought too — four words that say so much! My aspirations as well — more wagging, less barking…

@Evelyn — Ah yes, bark less being to just keep quiet — an angle I hadn’t thought about — and I love it! Thanks Evelyn, and happy Sunday to you too!

@Svasti — The picture just says “wag” to me! And yes, dogs can sure be content..

@Natalia — Hi Natalia. Oh, good stuff! Life is indeed short — and we might as well have fun while we’re here. And listening — another great point! I’m loving this, Natalia, you’re reminding me of much that is important to our quality of life…thank you! Hope your Sunday was awesome, and the coffee was hot…

@LisaNewton — The glass half full / glass half empty syndrome — how we look at life says a lot about how we live our life. Here’s to seeing the positives. Happy patting today Lisa!

@Stacey Shipman — Hi Stacey. A hike sounds wonderful! Golden retrievers, especially seem to look happy I think. And yes, silence, something to be savored, if we can get to that point of not having the “noise” in our lives all the time. Not always easy when we as a society have become so accustomed to it — not having “noise” of some kind can seem strange at first.

@Diane C. — Being grateful is a good place to be at — it’s like the wagging just brings on more wagging!

  30. Lance says:

    @Positively Present — Hi Dani. It’s a great saying isn’t it!

@Juliet — Hi Juliet. Yes, this sure can make you smile! Glad to hear you liked it!

@Suzen — Hi Suzen. This phrase sums up about how to live life, doesn’t it! Enjoy your nap today!

@Evita — Being happy can completely change our outlook on life, which will also change our life in many great ways. A choice — I love that you’ve brought this up, Evita. We all have the choice to wag or to bark. Always. It can be hard not to bark sometimes, although, really what does the barking get us? I choose happy…

@Julie — Yes, dogs are wonderful teachers…if we pay attention… Mucking it up — I love that Julie. Well, not that we muck life up. I love how you’re describing this. I look at the picture up above and I can’t think at all that the dog there is judgmental. He just looks content with life. And is ready to just have fun…when someone else wants to join him. On the same wavelength — it’s a good place to be Julie!

@Angel — Hi Angel. So…you were wagging your tail as you were reading this! Why doesn’t that surprise me???? Have a great Sunday!

@Jeanne — Hi Jeanne. And thank you!

  31. Lance says:

@Bobbi — Isn’t that dog great — he looks like he’s perfectly okay with life…always. And the quote fits him… And is good for us to remember. I am having a great weekend with my family, thanks Bobbi. Enjoy your time with your husband as well!

@Tom — Hi Tom! Oh, great point — wagging begets more wagging in our life. Barking begets more barking in our life. I love that thought! Thanks Tom!

@Tess — Fear or love, great way to look at this Tess! It is so simple…on paper. In real life, why do we not wag more? Something worth thinking about, for each of us, no matter where we are on that continuüm…

@Tabitha — Hi Tabitha. They are powerful words aren’t they — and in such a concise manner — remind us of so much.

@Nadia — Hi Nadia. Happy wagging to you, my friend (and I’m guessing you do this often!).

@Brenda — Feeling contentment and joy — that’s a great place to be at, isn’t it Brenda!

@Brandi — Yes, right up your alley, my friend!

  32. Lance says:

@Laurie — I love it Laurie!!!! That’s great, you’re doing some serious wagging!!!!!

@Stacey / Create A Balance — Hi Stacey. Great to hear! Why do I think you don’t bark all that much anyway! I think you wag quite a bit already… Hope you’re having a great Sunday!

@Sami — So simple, and so well said in only a few words! Keep wagging Sami!!!

@Audra — Hi Audra. It’s great bumper sticker. Especially on cars — as I know I sometimes get frustrated in traffic. And this reminds me I should look around and “wag my tail” at all the great things I can see, or that I have in my life. And that’s a lot of things worth wagging about. And it’s not all about traffic. It’s life in general, and even just doing one of these two is a big step in the right direction. Thanks much Audra!

@Vered — Thanks much! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday as well!

@Chris Edgar — Yes, dogs can be enthusiastic over something as simple as a ball, or going outside, or a walk, or just getting a little attention. It doesn’t take much at all to make a dog happy. And that’s something we can all learn from!

@Fannie Junster — Hey Jannie (oops. I mean Fannie!). Ha! Kelly is making me laugh tonight — if you’re going to wag your tail, you’ve got to shake your booty!! I love it!!! And see, just reading your comment, and really what Kelly is saying — has made me wag my tail more. I’d post a video of me shaking my booty — except that would scare you and everyone else away for good! And, I love the bumper sticker you saw as well — dogs can sure make us feel like kings! Happy Sunday to both of you!

@J.D. Meier — Great point! People are more attracted to those who exhibit “wagging” in their life, instead of barking. Much more enjoyable to be around positivity instead of negativity.

@Liz — Hi Liz! I’m smiling…that you’re laughing! I love it. Sometimes our “to-do’s” get in the way of our wagging. And, while we do have stuff that needs to get done, sometimes stopping and wagging is just what’s needed. And you’re reminding me of that today Liz — thank you!
