Earl,
Desmond Tutu really touches upon such an important point, this idea of giving without expectation. Getting to this spot in our lives, wow, what a great place to be! And what I also really believe is that what we give DOES come back to us in so many greater ways. Maybe not instantly , and maybe not in the form we might expect...but it does...and that is such a part of what makes doing this so great. Thanks much for the visit today!

Thank you for sharing this video. I especially agree with Desmond Tutu that our lives should focus more on giving without expecting something in return. Of course, this often proves difficult to do and we end up looking for other ways to gain happiness. But if we sincerely focus on giving, the impact is always positive for everyone involved.

@Suzie - Hi Suzie! Borrow away! This is great, isn't it, so many great thoughts by some amazing people. And to you to, my friend, may this new year be will with much abundance and beauty in your life.

@Tim - Hi Tim. So many great thoughts in this video - and the three you have highlighted are all so excellent. I personally really love the message Judi Dench shares about being silly. What a great way to live life! Thanks much, Tim, for your thoughts today.

@Tess - Great news! You were able to get the video to work!! And so many great thoughts in here, aren't there! The "silly" thoughts from Judi Dench are something that really resonated with me too. And Tess, what you have shared about your mother is touching. No matter what cards life deals us, we are all still human beings, and have an innate desire for dignity. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom here, and reminding me of what really matters...

@Laurie - What a great way to look at this, Laurie - like a wave in the ocean. We have OUR wave, each of us - and when that is a wave that is built upon love - we touch upon something that is so deeply important for all of us (just as Andrew Wyeth discusses). Laurie, thank you for your wonderful thoughts, and know that these are my wishes for you, too - that your life is encompassed in love. Happy New Year!

@Wilma - Hi Wilma. Wisdom isn't something we just "have". Wisdom really comes from our experiences in life, and what we take from those experiences. And it really does show that there is no one "right" answer. Wilma, you shine much wisdom into my life, by your caring and sharing heart. Thanks so much for so graciously being "you"...

@J.D. Meier - And that's it, there is no one "right" path on this path of self-discovery. We have that within us, the wisdom we have gained from our life experiences, and that too is very good stuff!

Good stuff.

What I like is that everybody's had their own paths and experiences, and they all found a way to make meaning and tell their own stories.

It's a reminder that we're our most important meaning makers and story tellers.

Hi Lance
Oh how we crave wisdom and I love how some point the finger back to us and say; find your own.
I do resonate with those who say that we can only find wisdom from our own experiences and when we look at what happens with non judgmental eyes as children do, joyfully engaged.
How else can all those people come up with such a variety of answers?
Thanks Lance, I will continue to take responsibility to keep discovering my own wisdom infinitely.
I sincerely desire for you to keep discovering your wisdom too and I enjoyed reading your and Lisis post about blogging.
Love Wilma

Life is like a wave tossed in the ocean, here today and gone tomorrow. But while my wave is here I am working on enjoying the ride, loving hard, living with gusto, and being grateful for the opportunity. In doing this, it is my hope that I can bring some happiness and quality of life to others. Wisdom will help me with all of this.

This was a great "ponderer" for us today Lance. I, like others here, believe that love is the greatest gift God gave us to experience. I wish you more love than you can absorb this year. Love for and from you family, your friends, and God. Happy New Year Lance! ~God Bless~

OK Lance third try did it. Several of these people I didn't recognize and would like to go back and discover who they are. I need all the wisdom I can get these days;)

I liked Judi and what she said about being older and silly. That fit's me. I also like "all conflict is about difference. The answer is to respect it! How easy can it get. and then...we crave dignity. This especially fits with my mom as she has lost all control over her physical body. I'm glad I tried again!

Hi Lance:

Wow, great video with an impressive cast of people sharing their wisdom. There's a lot of great nuggets in this video and I especially enjoyed what Judi Dench, Jane Goodall and Chuck Close had to say. All in all a great video to wake up to on a Sunday morning. Thanks for starting the week off in a positive way!!

@Robin - I am not surprised that this video is something that resonates very deeply with you. In it, I can just sense "you". All of the insights that are shared are touching their own right, and what you have highlighted are some wonderful examples of what wisdom really is. I really like the last one you mentioned, about having to find out for ourselves. There is so much truth in that, and in this idea that we have to travel this journey ourselves, that it's not someone else's experience that most deeply moves us...it is what we gain from our own discovery as we travel down the paths life takes us on. Robin, know that I see this is you, in the life journey you have been on, and where it has led you - to the wisdom you so graciously share. And know also that I am deeply touched by our wonderful and beautiful words. Robin, you are such a shining light in my life, and this again today is so beautifully amazing! I AM blessed, more than I can fully express, as to your presence here and in my life. Robin, thank you, from the depths of my soul, for your beautiful being. With love and understanding...Lance

@Mark Salinas - Hi Mark! Thanks much, and looking forward to the new year ahead!

@Karl - This is such a great message, of love and hope for all of us. And to the idea that we get to great by going through average - that is also a great message of what can be, if we really believe and continue down that path we are on...great things await! And they do, Karl! Greatness is out there...for all of us!

@Sami - Hey Sami, it's great to see you again! And Happy New Year to you!! Woohoo!! This video really seemed like a great way to kick off the year, and focus on all that is good and right. And...seeing your smiling face again...that IS definitely good and right!

@Angelia - I love that line you have highlighted. It really says to me that there will be some great moments, and there may be some "not so great" moments, and there may be moments when it's a bit scary to go forth - and all of it has a purpose, and there's something in those moments that is beautiful. And that IS good. I find those words comforting and reasssuring. Angelia, thanks so much for highlighting that line - I really think it is so, so good. And know that having you here is just that too - filled with much goodness....

@Squawkfox - Hey Kerry! Happy New Year to you, too!!!

And know that having you here is just that too — filled with much goodness.…

@Squawkfox — Hey Kerry! Happy New Year to you, too!!!
