Teeth Stains: Tips to Keep Your Teeth White

by Lance Ekum on · 3 comments

Shining white teeth makes you look attractive, younger and healthy. Your teeth may be stained due to hereditary causes, aging, poor dental hygiene, or due to consuming too much tea, tobacco, coffee, wine etc. Sometimes, high doses of antibiotics, infections etc. also cause teeth to stain. While professional treatments are expensive, they are often the most effective options you have. However, there are some over-the-counter teeth whitening products that produce decent results. Here are some ways you can fight off the stains and keep your teeth white.

Whitening toothpaste

Teeth whitening toothpaste is a simple way to whiten your teeth at home. They contain mild abrasives and polishing agents which can remove teeth stains.

Mouthwash is also an effective way to shinier teeth. You can hold mouthwash in your mouth and brush your teeth, basically brushing your teeth with mouthwash. This tip works well if you're aiming to remove mild discolouration.

Whitening kits

Whitening kits may be suggested by your dentist or bought over the counter are effective in rwmoving teeth stains. A home whitening kit like Love My Teeth seems to work well and the effects are long-lasting too.

Whitening gels and strips

Whitening gels and strips are also convenient ways to remove stains. Whitening strips contain whitening gel and seem invisible. This needs to be placed on the teeth with a small brush. The amount of time you have to put these strips on your teeth will be mentioned on the label. Some strips dissolve in your mouth, so you can use those too.

Whitening rinses

You can use whitening rinses after meals as they can reduce plaque, gum disease and teeth stains. Apart from using these OTC teeth whitening systems, you can whiten your teeth naturally too with the help of some home remedies.

Baking soda

Baking soda can be used to get rid of teeth stains effectively. Make a paste with a quarter teaspoon of baking soda and some toothpaste and brush your teeth with this mixture. Rinse with warm water and do this just once or twice a week, to whiten your teeth.

You could also make a paste of baking soda and lemon juice or white vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. Mix 1 tbsp of baking soda with 1 ½ teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide with a cup of cold water. This whitening mouthwash can be used 2-3 a day.

Orange peel

If you wish to go au naturale, clean your teeth with orange peel (fresh), regularly and this will lessen the yellow tinge on your teeth.

You can get back your pearly whites and your confidence with the help of whitening kits and home remedies which are simple, convenient and can restore your beautiful smile.
