Think and Grow Rich
History has provided us with many great resources upon which we can use to improve ourselves and our lives. One such resource is a book written by Napoleon Hill in 1937 — Think and Grow Rich. This book is truly a classic, and one that shares principles that are easy to understand, yet too often overlooked. Like the title, what we think about, along with actions put to our thoughts, will lead us to the many riches of life (whatever “rich” is for you) — monetary, physical well-being, mental well-being, and so on.
Think about this — in your life. When have you been most successful? Truly successful, on something that matters dearly to you. It probably didn’t happen per chance — instead it involved something you cared deeply for (and had thought about) — combined with some sort of plan of action on your part. You CAN have this in your life, today! And the teachings of Napoleon Hill can help to catapult you into these successes that are waiting for you.

If you read any books since this one you will see the tread of thought came from Mr. Hill. “The Secret” takes ideas from this book as well. Dot, I hope you don’t mind me saying — I’m not a law of attraction person either. From what I understand the law of attraction is based a lot on theory. Think and Grow Rich will have some similarities, but Think and Grow Rich is based off of principles that the 500 most successful in America all practiced. It was written after a 20 year study of these successful men and what they all had in common and practiced. That’s why I chose to study this book — I’m all about principles. I have to concur with Jennifer– this is not Law of Attraction mumbo jumbo. This is true techniques used by some of the most successful people in our short history, It is based on real science/psychology not marketing. Give it a quick glance and you will see it is legit!

Great idea and looking forward to check this out. Think and Grow Rich is an amazing book and I’ll definitely recommend it as well. It is excellent. Also, it is nothing like the new age recent law of atraction junk like the secret. That is just a terrible rip off of old useful principles like that in Think and Grow Rich, or another classic not as popular, “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wattles Wallace.

I’ve read the book twice and hope to visit the book again every now and then. Its he principles are timeless. In troubled financial times like this, it’ll be a good idea to be reminded about what has been espoused by Napolean Hill.

Lance, this was one of the earliest self improvement books that I had read along with How to Make Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. I must have been all of 20 or so and they both had a profound influence on my life. While I did not become rich, there were other things that I learned from both the books that have lasted a life time. It would indeed be nice to revisit them.
I am however more into spiritualism now and rarely if ever go to self improvement books unless they are very highly recommended.

Even though this book may not fit your plans right now, know that you are always welcome in the “Journey to Success”.

Wow Lance! How exciting! A forum!
I haven’t ever read this book — I’ve read others on the topic, but somehow didn’t come across this one when I was going through my exploring phase. It’s nice to hear about things like this now, which I have missed out on (without having to read it all, because I haven’t got time!)
It’s amazing that he wrote it in 1937, and it is so widely acknowledged now.
