“Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve.” ~ Napoleon Hill

Think and Grow Rich

History has provided us with many great resources upon which we can use to improve ourselves and our lives.  One such resource is a book written by Napoleon Hill in 1937 — Think and Grow Rich.  This book is truly a classic, and one that shares principles that are easy to understand, yet too often overlooked.  Like the title, what we think about, along with actions put to our thoughts, will lead us to the many riches of life (whatever “rich” is for you) — monetary, physical well-being, mental well-being, and so on.

Think about this — in your life.  When have you been most successful?  Truly successful, on something that matters dearly to you.  It probably didn’t happen per chance — instead it involved something you cared deeply for (and had thought about) — combined with some sort of plan of action on your part.  You CAN have this in your life, today!  And the teachings of Napoleon Hill can help to catapult you into these successes that are waiting for you.

Journey to Success

Today, with my colleague, Jennifer Abbott, of Principles for Peace — we are rolling out a forum to discuss this book.  Have you thought about reading “Think and Grow Rich”?  Are you looking for something motivational to read as we start the new year?  Do you have a burning desire to take your life to greater levels of purpose?

Consider joining us over at Journey to Success, where we will have an open discussion on “Think and Grow Rich”, by Napoleon Hill.  There are no commitments, no costs, no advertisements.  This is solely a way to help you take your life to new and great heights!  This forum is for you, my friends.  This forum is for anyone desiring to live their life with intention!

May the new year take you in all the directions you desire!

  4. Hi Lance (& Jennifer),
What a GREAT idea! This is such a wonderful book that I believe everyone could learn from. It was one of the first books I read when beginning to study the law of attraction and just how powerful the mind is! A true classic and I am sure with 2 brilliant writers (and people) running this forum it will be even more illuminating! I’m going there right now to check it out and will tell people about it. All the best!

This book is the classic on using your subconscious to achieve success. If you read any books since this one you will see the tread of thought came from Mr. Hill. “The Secret” takes ideas from this book as well. Your subconscious has the power to change everything about your life– you just need to start utilizing that power and focus it in the direction of your heart. Your life will be amazing!

  13. Jennifer says:

Dot, I hope you don’t mind me saying — I’m not a law of attraction person either. From what I understand the law of attraction is based a lot on theory. Think and Grow Rich will have some similarities, but Think and Grow Rich is based off of principles that the 500 most successful in America all practiced. It was written after a 20 year study of these successful men and what they all had in common and practiced. That’s why I chose to study this book — I’m all about principles. We’d love to have you if you change your mind. If not, we love you anyway!! (I just have to say, Dot, that I love your gravatar and your big smile. I want to smile every time I see it! @Jamie Simmerman — Definitely check out “Think and Grow Rich”, Jamie. I think you’ll really like it! …and maybe I should make a trip and check out some of Seth Godin’s stuff. What book did you get?

@Jenny Mannion — Thank you, Jenny! The premise of this book really does deal with our minds, and how powerful it can be the making our dreams a reality. And, thank you, also, for your support in helping to spread the word, and for stopping in! It all means so much, Jenny. You are a wonderful friend! Your support means the world to me!

@Miz — Hey, MizFit — that was me too! I’ve had this book forever…just sitting there. Jennifer really spurred me on to start reading — and the forums I really believe will help to not only continue this process, but also to solidify what I’m reading — and that’s where I see the real benefit in all of this. Stop on over whenever you get a chance!

@Jay — It really shows how powerful our mind can be, doesn’t it Jay! It’s great to have you here, and thank you for contributing over in the forums. The more people that get involved, the better the discussions will be — thank you, Jay!

@Dot — Hope to see you in there, Dot. This isn’t really “law of attraction”, as Jennifer has also explained. I’m not overly familiar with the law of attraction, although I think some of the principles are similar. It may be worth stopping in and just seeing what kind of discussions are going on.

Napoleon Hill encourages people to evolve into their dreams. This strategy has effectively inspired many people. @Sagan — That’s exactly it — our mindset, and how much of a role that plays in realizing our dreams and desires. If you get a few moments, check out the forums, I think you could add a lot to the discussion, Sagan!

@Jamie Simmerman — Hey, I’ve read the “Purple Cow” before. And, I’ve heard mention of “Tribes” a lot recently — maybe it’s worth checking out further.

@Liara — Great point, Liara — about believing/seeing yourself as what you desire. It all fits with the idea that our mind plays a huge role in us fulfilling our desires.

@Mike King — Hi Mike, awesome to see you’ve jumped right into the forum. I’m not familiar with “The Secret”, although I do know of several who do follow it’s practices. I wonder if there is some overlap between the two books? I guess I’m saying that I’m not ready to knock this book yet — and I may be reading here in the near future. Going in with an open mindset…

@Mindful Mimi — Great! Yes, it’s much easier to read an actual book, I agree. We’d love to have you, however much or little as you want to contribute, in the forums.

Lance, this was one of the earliest self improvement books that I had read along with How to Make Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. I must have been all of 20 or so and they both had a profound influence on my life. While I did not become rich, there were other things that I learned from both the books that have lasted a life time. It would indeed be nice to revisit them.

@Evelyn — It would be great to have you join us, Evelyn, over at the forums — if it fits your schedule, please stop by! And yes, this is a very good time to be reminded of these principles. We are only limited by our mind!

@Rummuser — I really like to look at the term “rich” — not just in terms of monetary richness, but also however we might define rich in our life — meeting some goal, doing work that is meaningful, love, life in general, monetary — rich is really however we define it to be in our lives. Even though this book may not fit your plans right now, know that you are always welcome in the “Journey to Success”.

@LisaNewton — That’s awesome, Lisa! And that’s a good point for others, as well.
