“He then learns that in going down into the secrets of his own mind he has descended into the secrets of all minds.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

First off, thank you, everyone, for reading Part 1 of the interview!

This whole experience has been enlightening, has been revealing, has been humbling.  And it really makes me realize, as different as we all are, individually, in many ways we are the same.  Deep down, at our core, we are united.  We are one…

Today, we are moving on to the second installment,  Part 2 of my interview with Stephen Hopson, from the Adversity University Blog.

Once again, Stephen has challenged me with questions that make me look deep within myself for answers.  He has a real skill for this!

It has truly been an honor to participate in this interview with Stephen, and to share myself with all of you, my friends.

As we prepare to say good-bye to this year, and enter our next, I thank you, all, for your visits, your reading, your comments, your time.  Thank you, every one of you, for making this jungle a bit less tangled.  You are awesome, all of you!

Lance writes stories from his heart, aiming to inspire and motivate, as you align more fully with YOUR true peak. When he’s not here, you can find him hanging out with his family, riding a bike, or just generally acting goofy.   Sign up for the Thoughts from the Treehouse newsletter and get additional inspiration in your email inbox!

  1. It was an absolute pleasure and a privilege to have interviewed you! You have a way with words — I can see why you have such an active community over here.

Thank you for participating in the “Stephen Hopson Interview with Lance” and making a difference with your responses. It is because of people like you who bring the light where ever they go and that’s what you did for me and others who were lucky enough to read both parts of my interview with you.

Happy New Year — may 2009 be exciting as hell for you.

Hi Lance. I enjoyed the rest of the interview. The Jungle of Life rocks! Thanks for helping to light the way :-)

I believe it’s true that we’re all connected. It’s a blessing to be able to support those we know who need it when we can give it, and to accept help in return when we are in need. What would we do without each other?

  3. Hi Lance — I hated to see the interview come to an end. It’s great learning more about you, your life, your thoughts and your dreams. I’ve no doubt whatever you choose, you’ll be a huge success. You’re a kind, giving and loving person and it shows through not only in your interview, but here on your blog. It’s a great pleasure to be considered as one your friends. Thank you so much. I’m looking forward to 2009 and all of the surprises it holds in store for all of us.

    Until then, Happy New Year!

    Dear Lance,

I enjoyed this interview so much. You are truly a blessing to me. I know I have told you this so many times before. You will accomplish all that you put your mind too. Just think…you have all of us supporting you. Your own cheering squad.

I can’t wait to see what 2009 brings for each of us. You know…we could use a little more pink in here. Kidding!

Happy New Year to you and your family. Tell them thank you for sharing “you” with us!

  5. A great second half of the interview. I enjoyed the personal questions. My favorite answer was “You have shined brightly, my son — welcome home.” It can’t be said any better.

Interviews are great. We get to learn about both people. You can tell a lot about a person by the questions they ask.

Great job Lance, hopefully it drives some traffic to your awesome blog.

I am on my way to the part II of your interview and I want to say that I have already been inspired. I mentioned you in my blog post for Wednesday, I think what you stand for and what you have to say can be life changing for others and want as many as possible to read your blog and your interviews. Thank you for what you have done. The WORD is so powerful, with a blog, that is all we have and we have to make them count if we are serious about our mission. I realize that blogs are used for many different reasons, but for those who want to inspire, encourage, be a light and create joy in others we have somewhat of an obligation to choose our words carefully. You do that and you have the potential to reach so many with your blog and these interviews. I wish your family peace and joy in 2009 and much abundance!!

I thoroughly enjoyed both parts to the interview and getting to know you better. It just helped you to shine forth even more than you already do. All the best to you and your family in the new year.

You are a truly amazing person. I love how you choose to see the world and its challenges. You have a very kind and generous spirit. I could go on and on. You are someone I would like to emulate.

I wish you and your family a very Happy and Healthy 2009!!!

@Stephen — Thank you, Stephen, for this awesome opportunity! I think we all have a light within us to share with the world. I know that you do, and it has been a privilege to have crossed paths with you this year! 2009 will be an awesome year!

@Davina — You rock, Davina! This whole blogging thing really has made the world seem smaller, and more friendly — and isn’t that pretty awesome!

@Barbara — With those tough questions Stephen asks — I WAS glad to get to the end of the questions themselves! Barbara, you really gave me my shot — and I’ve learned so much from you. You really are an inspiration to so many — myself included! So, Barbara, my friend, may the new year indeed hold many new and exciting surprises for you!

@Cricket — Tammy, thank you, very deeply, from the bottom of my heart. You are the one who is the blessing. You have a real and personal way with words, a way that touches many. The new year will be awesome, Tammy. Continue to love your boys and life and everything you have in it! Now about the pink…hmmm…that probably won’t be happening right away!

@Karl — Thanks, Karl! I hope that I can live that answer in my life… “You have shined brightly…”. It’s in interacting with people like you, Karl, that I get closer toward this spot. And yes, just by Stephen’s questions — we really get a feel for just what kind of a guy he is — how he really cares…

@Avtcoach — You wonderful words here, really mean so much to me! I am inspired by my visitors, by you, and what is shared here! It is such a testament to the true character of the wonderful people I am lucky enough to know. And to you, also, I wish only the best for the new year ahead, and that it is a year beyond your expectations!

@Jennifer — It’s really an honor to have you here, Jennifer. You’ve added so much to the conversations, and to my own thinking. And my shining is really a reflection of those around me, their bright light bouncing off of me — I have some very wonderful visitors here, and that especially includes you! The new year promises great things for us all!

@Suddenly slimmer — Thanks for stopping by Alia, and happy new year to you!

@Jenny Mannion — Thank you, Jenny, very much! Whew…I’m glad I’m done with these questions! They were tough for me! That you enjoyed my answers really does mean a lot to me. Thank you for all your continued support Jenny! You inspire me with the love your project. The new year promises many great things for you!

@Natalia — Thank you, Natalia! You are way too kind to me (and I’m loving it!)! To you, also, may the new year be one that leads you down exciting and wonderful paths in your life!

  15. Of course, I have subscribed not only to this blog but also to this particular blog post and I’ve been reading all the comments with delight. It seems fitting that my two part interview with Lance ended just on the cusp of the new year! Pefect timing, wouldn’t you say?

I found this interview to be very much uplifting because of the kind of dialogue we had going between both Lance, myself and the readers who have joined in with comments of their own. It was such fun.

Once again, enjoy ushering in the New Year — it’s going to be a fabulous year, don’t you think? Remember what Henry Ford once said “If you think so, then it will be, if you don’t think so, then it won’t be.” (I’m paraphrasing of course but the meaning is the same).

Lance, one of your gifts is your way of engaging your readers with issues that they relate to in ways that defy words. You encourage people by enabling them to feel and grow at their own pace while you share thought-provoking reflections. I value your perspective. It enriches the lives of people you may never meet in person. Yet, you connect with them through the unseen soul.

What a great second part of the interview. Well done. It’s funny but there are two items on your bucket list that are on mine two: writing a book and learning to play the guitar. I did climb a mountain (almost 4000 m) and intend to go again. Writing a book has been on my mind since I am a kid. I actually did write a children’s book which was of course crap and never go accepted anywhere. I just find it difficult to start. What would your book be about?
HAPPY NEW YEAR — may it be filled with laughter and happiness.

Awesome interview Lance. You are so genuine, the real deal. It’s nice to know you are good with transparency even when what shows through isn’t always so pretty. It gives a person the safely and freedom to be more authentic herself. Thanks for that Lance.….….….

  29. Laurie says:

Oh and Happy New Year Everyone!!!

  30. Well I wasn’t a bit surprised by your answers, Lance. Your writing exemplifies the type of person you are inside, too. Well done!

I’ve heard other folks say that ‘cold’ thing bothers them, too. I was born in the midst of a Montana blizzard where wind chill temperatures were registered at 50 below. Needless to say I now live in the very WARM southwest. I like to visit snow, but I wouldn’t want to coexist with it for months at a time. :-)

@Dot — Thank you, Dot. The book writing…it’s a challenge I’m really excited about! Happy New Year!

@Stephen — Thanks for having me, Stephen — my time on your blog has been so fantastic! And, yes, it is the conversations that get developed on these blogs — that really make the posts come alive. It will be an awesome year, Stephen — and I know it will be for you too! Happy New Year!

@Julie — Putting myself out there — this was one very tough assignment (well, two assignments!) from Stephen. And yet, I’m glad I did — it has been also so good for me. Happy New Year, Julie!

@Liara — Liara, thank you! The way you use words always leaves me thinking, questioning, understanding…it’s a real gift you have. Thank you for your continued presence here!

@Mark — Thank you, Mark! Happy New Year to you and your family!

@Stacey / Create A Balance — Challenging questions, they were! Really, Stephen had me thinking deeper than I have in a long time — it’s a real gift he has. Stacey, know that you’re a light, also. For many. For me… Happy New Year!

@Jannie — Thank you, Jannie! …I’m now going out to “sin brightly”…I hear that’s works wonders at the Pearly gates…(you better be right!!!)

@stephanie — Stephanie, thank you. Really, your words today mean so much. Yet, there are so many who are real gifts, so many whose paths I’ve had the opportunity to cross here in the blogging world. You, Stephanie, are one, a gift, as well — to me, and to all your readers! Thank you for being here! Happy New Year!

@Marelisa — Mare, you’ve been such an awesome supporter here. You’ve really become a bright shining light in my life — your comments, your writing, your friendship. Happy New Year to you!

@Cricket — Hey Tammy! Happy New Year!!!

@Sharon — Thank you, Sharon! And thanks for all your support. Happy New Year!

@mindful Mimi– Very cool — we’ve got similar items our lists! And you climbed a mountain — that had to be an awesome experience! Your children’s book — I’m sure it was much better than you’re making it out to be. The subject — I’m not ready to get into specifics yet (I’m still working it all out) — although the general theme will be a book written in the personal growth realm. Happy New Year Mimi!!

@Arwsino — Thank you, Arswino! And, I’m glad this has given you a new perspective. Here’s to a great year ahead for you, my friend…

@Laurie — Transparency…well, I’m not sure how good I am with it…it’s certainly not always easy! And you are welcome, Laurie. Although I really do believe it’s a two-way street. Maybe I’m helping you, yet know also that you’re helping me. As are so many of my readers. Thanks for being here Laurie. And Happy New Year!!!

@Grace — Thank you, Grace! I’m coexisting right now!! We’ve just had one of the snowiest December’s on record… And a few days of below and zero! So, I’m thinking of you right now, with envy, as you enjoy the warmth of the southwest! Happy New Year!

@Rupal — Happy New Year, Rupal — thanks for being here!
