“When you wish someone joy, you wish them peace, love, prosperity, happiness… all the good things.” ~ Maya Angelou

Joyful Days, yes, they surely are!  Today, I’m spending time with Daphne, who writes with real heart, over at Joyful Days.  She asks me questions that, once again, make me look deep within.  Read the whole interview right here.  We bounce around — from blogging, to life, to spirituality, and then some.  She’s got me all over the place — in some very good ways!

I’ve been drawn into Daphne’s writing, for the real and upbeat message she portrays.  Recently, she’s added this creed she strives to live by:  “Think deeply, Speak gently, Love much, Laugh a lot, Work hard, Give freely, and be Kind.” Isn’t that something great to aim for!  Joyful Days is a place that just shines of joy — what a fitting name!

Here are a couple of random posts she has written:

Why You Should Trust Your Instinct

Care Less About What Others Think

Thank you, Daphne — this has been a lot of fun!    Stop by and check it all out,  right here.

Daphne does a good interview — I like both of your sites, very synergistic. One question I would like to ask you Lance is

Building a site isn’t technically difficult, but building it into a useful site with community and long term consistency is extremely difficult. So I can see it takes a strong drive to start AND to grow a nice site like yours. So what drove to to start Jungle of Life and what keeps you going?”

    @Meleah — Thanks!

@Daphne — The thanks all go to you, my friend! You did great work with the interview. And that you think of me as a shining star — that means the world to me! You rocked on this whole thing!

@Davina — Dangerous? No, this jungle’s not too dangerous!!! Definitely check out Daphne’s blog — is really an uplifting place to visit, as I’m sure you’ll see!

@Rupal — Glad to make the introduction — Daphne’s great! Enjoy the interview…and her site!

@MizFit — Joy and love — hey that should fit pretty good today I think!! And M&M’s…mmmm.…definitely — life is too short!

@Tikno — Thank you, tikno! Daphne really brought some great questions to the table!

@Very Evolved — Daphne does a great interview, doesn’t she! To your question: I started the Jungle of Life to fulfill a desire to write. What keeps me going, without a doubt, is the community that has developed here. It’s the connections, it’s the thoughts that are shared, it’s the real caring that makes this all worth doing! Thanks for the question Patrick!

Each person is such a bundle of joy. Why do people not always recognize this in themselves? You encourage people to realize life is a journey and realisations do not all unfold at once. Obstacles individuals create only make it more difficult to rediscover love temporarily. @Karl — Maybe this is my fifteen minutes of fame!! Daphne did great at making me feel all sorts of great today. And thank you, Karl — that question about my thoughts for each child was probably the hardest of the questions.

@Annette — Thank you, Annette! The picture made me smile too!

@Jay — Thanks so much, Jay! I could claim credit for this, but it was all Daphne — asking some really great questions, and coming up with this idea. It was fun to share a bit more about “me”…

@Liara — Thank you, Liara. And yes, I do also think we all have joy within us. Sometimes it gets buried, though, doesn’t it. Life IS a journey, and I intend mine to be one I enjoy…

@Jennifer — What can I say Jennifer, thank you doesn’t quite seem like enough. Know that I appreciate everything you’re saying very much…

    Lance,
Great interview. I feel I am living what you went through some time ago with being a new blogger and wanting to stay anonymous. Have you noticed that today I posted my first ‘about me’ real picture? :-)
I love the Emerson quote. When I was young my guideline was ‘Live life to its fullest for any moment may be your last’ and it has gradually evolved (thank God) into what Emerson is saying.
    Thanks for being you.

  36. That’s a beautiful quotation. I read in a Deepak Chopra book that you should silently wish joy and happiness upon each person you encounter during the day. I bet that has quite an effect on the person doing the well-wishing too.

@Julie — Thanks so, so much Julie (and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of hearing that from you either!)!! You really say some very wonderful things, and it moves me greatly… I am uplifted by your very generous words today Julie, again — thank you.

@Sagan — Daphne has done a fantastic job with her site — great stuff!

@Mindful Mimi — There is a level of comfort in anonymity. And yet, I’ve found the more I’ve shed that veil of anonymity — the more connected I feel to my writing. And that’s nothing against remaining anonymous. I think you can feel incredibly connected to whatever you write, no matter how that information is presented. For me, being more open about who “I” am has been an evolving process of getting comfortable with my writing, and with acceptance. And…I did see your picture! Very cool — that’s taking a step away from being anonymous! And what I like about it — it so cool to be able to put a face to your writing — I like it! Thank you, Mimi, for all your continued support… And, that you find great meaning in the Emerson quote — I love that — I really think it is such a powerful quote!

@Gennaro — Great point, Gennaro! By wishing joy and happiness on others — I’m sure that comes back to us in a myriad of ways! Glad to hear you enjoyed the quote — joy really is wishing the good things for others…and that fits so well with what you’ve described!

@Charles — Daphne’s creed is awesome — what a great way to live, by following this! Enjoy your visit over at “Joyful Days”!

@Mark/ToBeMe — Thank you! And, as you know, I agree on how great Daphne’s site is — glad to hear you found it to be so, also!

@HIB — Thanks! And, I really thought this picture showed “joy” in a wonderful way — glad to hear you liked it too!

@Kathy@Virtual Impax — Glad to have you here, Kathy! And, I agree, the picture is captivating!

@Jannie — Aww, thanks Jannie! You’re great at spreading joy wherever you go (see, you’ve done it here already!)!! And yep — I guess I don’t really have a choice except to be me (great observation Jannie!)…

@Carla — Glad to hear you liked another of Daphne’s articles. I think she’s a great writer, and thata is just one example of her awesome writing!

@Dara — Thank you, Dara! Hey, I’m alright with softies around here… That section, where I wrote to each of my kids, that was the hardest part for me to write. And what I struggle with the most to really have it portray what I wanted it to say. So, hearing this from you, it helps me to know I wrote it right (although right is really dependent upon if, in my heart, I mean those words — and I do). Daphne has some very wonderful posts — glad you enjoyed another of hers!

@Squawkfox — It can be a hard decision, how much to reveal. I think you do what you’re comfortable with. And if you choose to reveal your true identity, great. Yet, if you don’t — that’s great too. I think the interactive Internet (web 2.0) can be personal either way. You can still write about what matters to you, and share personal experiences. And you do that. So, whatever you do, as long as you believe in yourself, it doesn’t matter to anyone else except you…

@Laurie — Thanks, Laurie! Hey, spring training isn’t too far away (so, it’s almost the right season!). World famous…I’m blushing Laurie! You’re way, way too kind to me! Thank you!!

@ Jannie, it was great having you at my blog. Thanks for visiting!

@ Carla, I’m glad you liked the post. If I trust my intuition, I already know you are a sensitive person with great depths of feeling that you don’t always show, but that people can feel when they’re with you. Am I right?

@ Dara, thank you for reading my post on what others think. I do care what you think, of course, and am so glad that you liked it!

@ Squawkfox, it was lovely seeing you at Joyful Days. It took me some time to feel comfortable with putting my real name and photo online as well. Keep hanging around wonderful bloggers like Lance and his community here, and you’ll soon realise that the world is a friendlier place than you think and you’ll feel safer to come out and be you.

@ Laurie, Lance is already a famous blogger in my world!

As you say, joy is a journey. It is implied that joy can also be found in experiences you find difficult or challenging. This requires a willingness to expand how and what you choose to see. And, life becomes even more rewarding as you begin to see opportunities for joy that you had missed before. As a person raises self-awareness, opportunities for joy become more noticable.

Hi again Lance — My previous comment probably ended up in your spam folder (I’m in the process of trying to figure out why), but I did want to say the interview is superb. The questions Daphne asked are fabulous and via your answers we got to learn more about you, your beliefs and why you’re so well liked in blogosphere.

  63. Lance says:

@Liara — What a wonderful look at real joy. It’s there…we just have to look for it — and sometimes that comes from deep within.

@Henie — Hi! Thanks for stopping in Henie. And guess what…I love your poem!! Have a super day!

    @Laurie — Ha! Funny stuff Laurie! I think there’s a few more than that…

@Kelly — Thanks for stopping in Kelly!

@Barbara — Yes, the other comment was in spam — I’m not sure why. And thank you, Barbara, for stopping in — and for reading the interview. It has been great to share a little more — and Daphne did an excellent job with the questions, and pulling it all together!

  73. I love Maya Angelou. I read a story once about her as a little girl. It was truly inspiring and I always admire a strong woman. One that is strong and can write from the heart is a true gem. Love that picture too, it makes me smile. Thanks for the warm fuzzies today.
