Joyful Days, yes, they surely are! Today, I’m spending time with Daphne, who writes with real heart, over at Joyful Days. She asks me questions that, once again, make me look deep within. Read the whole interview right here. We bounce around — from blogging, to life, to spirituality, and then some. She’s got me all over the place — in some very good ways!
I’ve been drawn into Daphne’s writing, for the real and upbeat message she portrays. Loved it! It’s so good to get to know you better Lance. As I said over there, you are one of the few whose posts I read in full instead if scanning. I love the Emerson quote. When I was young my guideline was ‘Live life to its fullest for any moment may be your last’ and it has gradually evolved (thank God) into what Emerson is saying.

That’s a beautiful quotation. I read in a Deepak Chopra book that you should silently wish joy and happiness upon each person you encounter during the day. I bet that has quite an effect on the person doing the well-wishing too.

For me, being more open about who “I” am has been an evolving process of getting comfortable with my writing, and with acceptance. And…I did see your picture! This was a hard lesson for me to learn. I am so shy and introverted. Getting to know people better through writing and commenting has really helped me find my own voice. And what I struggle with the most to really have it portray what I wanted it to say. So, hearing this from you, it helps me to know I wrote it right (although right is really dependent upon if, in my heart, I mean those words — and I do). Daphne has some very wonderful posts — glad you enjoyed another of hers!
@Squawkfox — It can be a hard decision, how much to reveal. I think you do what you’re comfortable with. And if you choose to reveal your true identity, great. Yet, if you don’t — that’s great too. I think the interactive Internet (web 2.0) can be personal either way. You can still write about what matters to you, and share personal experiences. And you do that. So, whatever you do, as long as you believe in yourself, it doesn’t matter to anyone else except you…

As you say, joy is a journey. It is implied that joy can also be found in experiences you find difficult or challenging. This requires a willingness to expand how and what you choose to see. And, life becomes even more rewarding as you begin to see opportunities for joy that you had missed before. As a person raises self-awareness, opportunities for joy become more noticable.
